For more than a decade, Haiti and West Africa have played a meaningful part in Lori and Seth Goldberg’s lives. Seth began volunteering in Sierra Leone, Senegal and Burkina Faso. His travels allowed him to work with and support survivors of the civil war, rehabilitate primary schools, provide teacher training and build water wells and latrines.Lori's volunteer work started in Haiti, where she fell in love with orphaned children. Her passion was to provide love and nurturing to children, who didn't get the care they needed. Lori shared her love of arts and music with school-aged children and brought gifts of comfort — stuffed animals and blankets — to pediatric patients at hospitals.
The Goldbergs shared their love of volunteer work with their two daughters, Hannah and Olivia, who have worked alongside their parents throughout Haiti. Growing up with a dozen Haitian "siblings," has taught the girls valuable lessons about life and the joy of giving.
In 2009, the Goldbergs formed Global Family Philanthropy in hopes of bringing families together in the spirit of volunteerism. Over the past few years, GFP has welcomed volunteers of all backgrounds and ages to the small Caribbean island to meet our amazing Haitian family.
The Goldbergs love of Haiti has resulted in the construction of a community center, the opening of a children's home, school tuition sponsorships, securing a shipping container with $400,000 worth of medical supplies for a newly opened medical clinic and building a beautiful home the abandoned elderly in Derac, Haiti.
GFP is all about opening our hearts and growing our global family. Please join the Goldberg family and volunteer with us.
